The second place among prisoners was bagged by life convict Paul Raj lodged in Vellore with 1,022 marks, while Koolai Ibrahim, now lodged in Puzhal for life term, scored 1,005 to be in the third position. Among the 73 who appeared, six were women. Of the six, four managed to pass. Jail sources said that all the toppers were murder accused.
“Interestingly, Ibrahim’s father was also sentenced to undergo three years jail term in 2015. Ibrahim had committed a murder in 1997 and had claimed that he was 20 when he surrendered in a court,” a police source said.
But his father, Abdul Razak had submitted fake documents in SC to show that his son was a minor when he committed the crime after Ibrahim was sentenced to life in 2001.
“After the police found out about the fake documents, a Coimbatore court sentenced Ibrahim’s father for a three-year jail term in 2015 for submitting fake documents in the apex court,” the source added.
