    BJP workers’ cycle awareness rally on CMB from May 16

    The BJP workers from Delta districts have come up with an idea to counter the relentless protests and blame-game involving the party in the formation of the Cauvery Management Board in the state. They are going to take out a cycle rally for the cause from May 16 to June 2.

    On May 15, Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan inaugurated the preliminary works for the rally with a special prayer. He said, the rally would go round the 24 Assembly segments in the Cauvery Delta region and explain the fact about the issue. 

    Titled as Uzhavanin Urimai Meetpu (Farmers Rights Retrieval) cycle rally, the BJP cadre have planned to commence it on May 16, (Wednesday) from Kallanai (Grand Anicut) and scheduled to complete it on June 2 at Peravurani. 

    On Tuesday, a special yagna has been organised in which the Union Minister took part. The organisers 

    said that the special yagna would invoke the God to provide water in Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswathi, Narmada, Sindhu and Cauvery that would help the farmers to undertake agriculture and the reap harvest in abundance. 

    After the special yagna, special poojas were held at Anjaneya temple, Karuppannasamy temple, Vinayaka temple, Mariamman temple, Cauvery Amman and Karikala Cholan mandapam. The minister garlanded the idols. 

    Later, Radhakrishnan told reporters that the cycle rally is aimed at creating awareness among the people about the real situation in terms with the CMB. He said, that the Cauvery issue and formation of the CMB has been highly politicised and the rally will tell the people who actually prevented and the Centre’s support to the farmers. He also said, once the BJP forms government in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu will get uninterrupted water release for five years.
