Actor-politician Kamal Haasan speaking on the verdict in the Karnataka Assembly elections, where the BJP emerged as the single largest party, said, “The only way to see this is that it is the people’s decision.”

Speaking to reporters before commencing his threeday tour of the southern districts on Tuesday, Kamal refused to call out any particular party for corruption in the elections. He said that the power of money is evident in Indian politics. He added that he hoped that the government that will come to power will keep its promise of the establishment of the CMB.
On the question whether Tamil Nadu is neglected because neither the Congress nor the BJP have a foothold, he said, “Tamil Nadu is not an island. It is an integral part of India and the Centre is duty-bound to attend to its needs.”
Kamal had called for an open consultation on the Cauvery issue that is to take place on May 19. He reiterated that all political parties including the ruling AIADMK will be invited to the meeting. It was declared that Comrade Nallakannu would helm the meeting, but the CPI refuted the claim.
On this issue Kamal said he was unaware of why the veteran leader will be unable to participate and said that any clarification must come from the CPI as he is not privy to these decisions.
