TNEA: 50,000 opt for online registration
With 15 days left for the last date of online registration, less than 50,000 engineering aspirants have applied through that mode so far. However, with the results of Class 12 exams expected on Wednesday, more students are likely to register in the coming days, sources in Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) said.

As on Monday, a total of 53,612 students have registered. Of that number, 46,840 have opted to enrol online, while the rest preferred the facilitation centres set up in all the districts. On Monday alone, 3,364 students registered.
Although the online facility was introduced for the first time this year, applicants can use the facilitation centres to register, provide college preferences as well as collect allotment orders. The original certificate verification for all applicants will be done only at the facilitation centres.
Special counselling under different categories like eminent sportspersons, differently-abled persons, vocational and supplementary would be held in Chennai. A total of 567 colleges in the state will offer engineering seats this year to about 1.5 lakh students.
