The Minister assured action after the journalists pointed out to him that the actor has been having a free run despite the case and that he was seen participating in an event in which BJP heavy weights, including Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan took part. The Minster said that law will take its course and that the actor would be brought to the book.

Jayakumar also scotched the rumours that the state is protecting the actor from law. The Minister reiterated that the state would take necessary action against Shekher.

Meanwhile, Radhakrishnan denied that the actor, who is absconding after the Madras High Court denied anticipatory bail to him, had a meeting with him. The Minister said Shekher took part in a function that was attended by him.

Talking to reporters here Radhakrishnan asked, “I attended a function which was also attended by Shekher. I did not meet him in the function nor had a conversation with him. When I was leaving, the actor came inside,” he said and asked “Is there any video evidence to show that we are having a conversation?”

When asked if the BJP would take action against Shekher, Radhakrishnan said the party would decide on it. When asked if he informed the police about meeting Shekher, the Minister said, “It is not his job to inform police about Shekher. It is the job of the police to arrest him. I am not the DGP of the state. If I became the DGP, I will take action.”
