TN universities fail to update info on UGC website

The UGC has already communicated with the universities in Tamil Nadu to update details of VC, registrars, etc. However, the information regarding Anna University in the UGC portal still shows Dr M Rajaram as the VC. He has retired and was charged in a recruitment scam. When checked, Anna University sources told DT Next that the name of Prof M K Surappa as Vice Chancellor would be updated soon.

Similarly, information regarding the registrar of Anna University at UGC website is not filled. Dr S Ganesan is the registrar. In its latest communique, the UGC had said, “All universities are requested to update the names and contact details of VCs and registrars at www.ugc.ac.in/uniportal.”

As per norms, member universities should send periodical updates about VC, registrar, faculty and funds information. But the latest information of other major institutions, including Madras University and Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkhar Law University, is incorrect on the UGC site.

While the details of Madras University on the site says Prof R Thandavan is the VC and Dr G Koteswara Prasad the registrar, Madras University maintains that Dr P Duraisamy and Dr R Srinivasan are VC and registrar respectively.

Likewise, the current VC for Tamil Nadu Ambedkhar Law University is Prof Dr Tamma Suryanaryana Sastry. However, Prof Vijayakumar’s name is still retained in VC’s column. The website link for Ambedkhar Law University reads as tndalu.org., but tndalu.ac.in is the correct address.

Likewise, Dr R Prabakaran is the current VC of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) VC, but the UGC site calls Dr C Balachandran is the VC on its information list.

Even addresses of universities mention only the name of the district from where they operate.

For Alagappa University, the UGC has detailed address posted while for Annamalai university, the district name is also missing in the commission’s portal. As per the list given by Raj Bhavan, 20 universities from the state fall under the UGC.
