TN CM to inaugurate slew of projects in Salem
EPS efforts to boost infra in home town is aimed at retaining party base

Carrying on with his relentless efforts to boost the infrastructure in his home district Salem, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will open a flyover, two other bridges and lay the foundation stone for two more bridges and a bypass road on Sunday.
Palaniswami, who is also the Highways Minister, will inaugurate the flyover built at a cost of Rs 82.27 crore in Salem west.
He is also scheduled to open two more bridges built at a cost of Rs 7.75 crore. Following this, He will lay the foundation stone for two railway bridges to be built at a cost of Rs 133.15 crore.
He is also set to inaugurate the works for the laying of a bypass road at an estimate of Rs 20 crore and open three more police stations in the district.
Besides, nurturing his Edappadi constituency, the Chief Minister, who is battling charges of lacking mass support, had announced many development schemes for the mango district which has been brought into the political map by him after Rajaji’s retirement from active politics in 1971.
The ‘mango district’ has become a hot bed of political activities ever since Palaniswami took over as the Chief Minister and he had been making frequent visits to the district to retain the party’s support base in the stronghold of charismatic leaders MGR and J Jayalalithaa. Palaniswami has come out with numerous measures for his home district, especially his constituency Edappadi.
The Chief Minister is carefully nurturing his constituency ensuring that it gets new schemes and projects in every department.
He himself announced desilting and renovation of Mettur Kizhakkukarai canal at a cost of Rs 49 crore at Edappadi, besides restoration of eight lakes in Salem. Even when it comes to new police stations and vehicles, Salem got priority getting three police stations and 22 police vehicles.
