Student accuses department head of misdemeanour
A PG girl student at Bharathiyar University has lodged a complaint with the Governor of Tamil Nadu against her departmental head and hostel officials, alleging them of using foul language when she questioned their refusal to provide an ambulance for her sick roommate.

The girl, a native of Malappuram in Kerala, also sent a complaint to the DGP, state human rights commission and Kerala chief minister about the incident, which occurred about six months back, police said.Â
The post graduate student alleged that the head of the department of psychology, Velayutham, verbally abused her. Both he and the hostel head Dharmaraj asked her to stand up on the bench in class, she said.Â
Police said they are investigating the matter and if there was a prima facie, a case would be registered.
