Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar on Saturday hit out at BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan on the Cauvery dispute, besides listing the AIADMK government’s measures for the Muslim community.

Citing Tamilisai’s remarks that the BJP was waiting for the completion of Karnataka elections to act on the Supreme Court verdict on the Cauvery dispute, he said finally the plans of the BJP had come out. Jayakumar said people of the state are anguished about such an attitude and they would not accept the BJP’s stand.
“Tamilisai, who is residing in Tamil Nadu, should not speak like a Kannadiga. We are not worried about who comes to power in Karnataka. Whether it be Ram or Ravan whoever may come to rule Karnataka, the Centre will have to form the Cauvery Management Board and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee,” he said.
Speaking a day after Tamilisai’s attack on the AIADMK government over the law and order issue, the Minister said the AIADMK had always been friendly with Muslims. While all the leaders used to take part in Ramzan functions organised by Muslim outfits, AIADMK is the only party which organises the function and invites Muslim leaders, he said. He also said the allotment of rice for gruel for Ramzan is one of the steps that showed that the AIADMK continued to be friendly with the Muslim community in the path shown by former chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
Responding to questions on the arrest of actor SVe Shekhar for his demeaning comments on women journalists, the Minister assured that the government would act.
“People are not welcoming Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth to politics. Kamal says he will not disclose the number of party members and Rajinikanth says he is expecting to recruit a certain number of people for his party. It means both the actors were unable to add members to their parties,” he added
