Cauvery: H Raja predicts good news on May 14

Speaking to the media here, Raja said a draft scheme would be submitted by the Centre on that day in the Supreme Court. Dravidian parties were betraying the people of Tamil Nadu on the issue for 50 years, he charged. He also denied that Tamil Nadu was on the boil on many issues and said such an illusion is being created by some parties.

Responding to Raja’s assertion, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader TTV Dhinakaran said people would have to wait until May 14 to know about the Centre’s move. He added that a solution to the Cauvery dispute would be a victory of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa who fought for the rights of Tamil Nadu. Rejecting H Raja’s comments, he said after the February 16 Supreme Court verdict on Cauvery, the people were waiting for the last three months.

Though, the issue was decades old, people were anxious over the last three months due to the Centre’s delay in implementing the court’s verdict. He said when the AMMK government was formed, it would link all the rivers in the state.
