The Commission, which took suo motu cognizance of media reports, observed that in view of recent cases of paper leak and the use of electronic gadgets by candidates, it was necessary to keep a strict vigil during the exam. However, it observed that young aspirants being put to hardship in the name of taking precautions

    amounts to harassment.

“Cutting the sleeves of the shirts and tearing the pants of the aspirants to remove buttons are unethical acts done by the staff deployed at the exam centres”, it said, adding “this amounts to violation of the right to dignity of the aspirants”.

The CBSE authorities have to take effective measures to chalk out a plan by inviting suggestions from experts and develop a more effective procedure for the security check at the exam centres. The Commission has issued notices to the CBSE chairperson and the Chief Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu, calling for the detailed reports in the matter within six weeks.
