“Weather models indicate subdued temperatures for most of Tamil Nadu. In particular parts of Northwest Tamil Nadu, day time maximum temperatures can stay nearly two to three degrees below normal for this time of the year,” said a Duty Officer at RMC.
One of the key reasons for this subdued temperature pattern will be the strengthening Easterlies, added the official.
A city-based weather-blogger said, “Kathiri or the peak summer season, started on May 4 with a subdued temperature over Tamil Nadu. Easterly winds have kept a check on temperatures across most parts of the state”.
But in the current context, a weak Upper air cyclonic circulation off the coast of Sri Lanka has strengthened the Easterlies and this development is bound to impact both the temperature and rainfall pattern in the state over the next couple of days, he added.
