Govt officials rescue two minors
A 17-year-old Class 8 drop-out girl was brought under the protection of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after she was found to be abused by her 30-year-old husband who kept torturing her over her inability to deliver a child, in Tiruchy on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, another girl was rescued from Manapparai on Friday. The girls are being kept at the Government Reception Home for Girls here and further action against their husband is yet to be decided by the CWC.Â
The Child Line officials on Wednesday night received a call in which the caller said she was being tortured and appealed for her rescue her from her husband. Based on the call, a team led by District Social Welfare Officer S Usha rushed to Manachanallur along with the police and rescued the girl.Â
In the other case, the officials received a call from their Karur counterparts that a 17-year-old girl from Kadavur in Karur was scheduled to get married to a worker in Manapparai. They rushed there and rescued her as well.
