Speaking on the occasion, the TMC Farmers Wing president Puliyur A Nagarajan said, “Eyeing the Karnataka Assembly polls, the BJP led government has been intentionally delaying in formation of the CMB. Today’s verdict has been leaving the farmers to lose hope even in the judiciary and it is time to fight for the rights unitedly.”

Meanwhile, P Viswanathan, state president of Tank and River Ayacutdars Welfare Association said that already farmers have been left in lurch with the poor livelihood. They have been struggling to undertake farming for the past few years owing to water shortage.

The formation of the CMB had lit a hope among them but it has been stretched unduly and so the farmers have to show their strength and fight together to get the due share of water, he said.

Later, the farmers decided to hold a hunger strike on May 8 in Tiruchy in which, several thousand farmers across the delta districts will participate. Leaders of over 15 farmers associations took part in the meeting.
