Centre to seek more time in Supreme Court
With the Supreme Court to take up the hearing on a batch of petitions on the Cauvery final verdict on Thursday, the Centre is likely to seek two more weeks’ time on the issue.

Sources said Tamil Nadu would oppose the Centre’s plea to provide more time as it has already requested it citing the Assembly elections in neighbouring Karnataka.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, camping in New Delhi, held a review meeting with senior officials from PWD (Public Works Department), CTC (Cauvery Technical Cell) chairman R Subramanian and senior counsel representing the state in the Cauvery case.
The meeting took place in Tamil Nadu House where the CM would stay over, before leaving for Chennai later on Thursday.
During the meeting, Palaniswami was learnt to have sought to know the outcome of the Cauvery hearing and had provided necessary advice in line with the state’s stand on seeking a Board to manage the affairs as well as the Water Regulation Committee as provided for in the final order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.
The apex court on its previous hearing of the case in April had rapped the Centre for not doing anything to implement the February 16 verdict. The court has ordered the Centre to frame a scheme and file the same on or before May 3.
