Woman jumps before train with 2 kids, killed

Police identified the victims as R Kalavathi (38) wife of Ramesh Kumar, a farmer from Ilangarkudi in Kabisthalam near Papanasam, their son Hariharan (10) and daughter Niranjana (5). 

Sources said, Mayiladuthurai -Tirunelveli Passenger (56821) was running between Papanasam-Pandaravadai railway stations. Around 1 pm when the train was crossing the Arayapuram railway gate, a woman with two children suddenly jumped before the train. The shocked loco pilot informed about the accident to the officials in Pandaravadai railway station, who passed on the information to the Kumbakonam railway police and also the Papanasam railway station. 

Meanwhile, as the information of the accident spread, the public rushed to the Arayapuram railway gate and found a girl child, below the age of five, struggling for life while the other two died. They called for 108 ambulance and rushed the child to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital where the child succumbed to injuries. Later, Railway Police rushed to the railway gate and retrieved the bodies of the woman and a boy and sent them to Kumbakonam Government Hospital. 

Police found three parcels of idlis in the accident spot and speculated that the woman might have came out of her house after domestic quarrel and took the extreme step. It was confirmed when Ramesh Kumar, the husband of the woman, identified the bodies and confessed that the couple had a quarrel during the previous night. Further investigations are on.
