Although there was no official communication from Raj Bhavan, sources said that a circular has been issued in this regard.Â
After the audio of Nirmala Devi, assistant professor in an affiliated college trying to lure woman students to extend favours for VIPs emerged, Purohit, in his capacity as the Chancellor of the University, on April 16 appointed a one-man probe committee headed by R Santhanam, a former Collector of composite Ramanathapuram district.Â
The Governor also announced that Santhanam would submit his report by the end of April.Â
Santhanam, who camped in Madurai, had been holding enquiries with all the parties involved in the incident, including the now-suspended Nirmala Devi. He questioned University officials in this regard.Â
The retired IAS officer also invited public with knowledge about the incident to depose before him.Â
However, with the two weeks time given by the Governor to complete his detailed investigation and submit a report coming to an end on Monday, Santhanam has been granted an additional time of two weeks as the probe was getting delayed.
