MBA student attacks girl for rejecting proposal

Police said that Shabir (23) of MGR Nagar in Katpadi, befriended a girl, who was his classmate, during his under-graduation. While the girl went to work in a private firm in Vellore after college, Shabir joined a post-graduation course in business administration. But, Shabir used to meet the girl often and pester her to marry him provided she converted to his religion. But, the girl rejected his request. Irritated by this, the girl informed her parents about Shabir’s activity who in turn complained to Vellore police. 

Meanwhile, Shabir again on Sunday night intercepted the woman at Green Circle near the new bus stand.  As the girl refused to heed his demand, Shabir pulled out a knife and tried to slash the girl’s neck. On hearing her screams, bystanders rushed to her rescue, while Shabir fled the spot.
