Early verdict promise cheers TTV camp

After the setback in the Madras High Court in their bid to unseat deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and 10 legislators from the Assembly, supporters of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran are happy over the court’s announcement of an early verdict on the issue of disqualification of 18 MLAs with them.

They dismissed the challenge of Dhinakaran’s uncle Dhivakaran who had claimed that all of the 18 are with him.

One of the 18 legislators and former minister V Senthil Balaji dismissed Dhivakaran’s claims that he had the backing of the 18 legislators.

Senthil Balaji said the verdict in the disqualification case would be in their favour and predicted trouble for the state government after the judgment.

He asserted that all the 18 legislators are with Dhinakaran and hoped that a floor test would follow the verdict. The government would be brought down after the judgment, he said.

Senthil Balaji, who is being attacked vehemently by Dhivakaran and the ruling party as well, said that after the fall of the incumbent dispensation, the ‘government’ of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa would be formed.

Senthil Balaji was responding to Dhivakaran’s claim that the 18 MLAs are under his control.

Dhivakaran, in an interview to a Tamil biweekly, had claimed that all the 18 MLAs are with him and said most of the AIADMK ministers are in touch with him. He also lauded Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and said he is running a good government despite numerous hurdles. He said both Palaniswami and Panneerselvam had sympathy for Sasikala and they could not be termed as betrayers.
