In a statement, he asked, “The betrayal by Centre is continuing, but what the state government is going to do now. The Centre, which already sought time till May 3, has again asked to extend time for two weeks. This is a clear signal that the Centre will never ever form the CMB.”

“The day is not too far that people particularly, farming community of the state will sense the betrayal committed by the Centre. Given its high stakes in poll-bound Karnataka, the Centre failed to respect the final verdict in Cauvery issue by the Supreme Court,” Stalin charged. Hitting out at the state government for not exerting pressure on the Centre to set up the CMB, Stalin pointed his finger at Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who earlier kept asking the members and people of the state to wait till March 29, which was the last date for forming the CMB, as per apex court’s direction, but in vain.

“Under such circumstances, the Centre again filed a petition and asked the Court to extend the date for two more weeks,” he said. “The Supreme Court, which advised that there needs to be patience over Cauvery row, should consider the gravity of the situation and should not accept the Centre’s petition,” Stalin added.
