Father gets triple life term for rape of 12-yr-old

According to the prosecution, on March 2017, a 47-year-old man a resident of Tiruchy, who has separated from his wife had brought his 12-year-old daughter to his house and sexually assaulted her repeatedly. However, the girl cried out of pain and the neighbours rescued her with the help of Childline officials. Police arrested the accused after registering a case under various acts, including the POCSO Act.

Judge Jacintha Martin, who heard the case, awarded three consecutive life imprisonments to the man and levied a fine of Rs 3,000 and a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim.  Public prosecutor Krishnaveni said this was the second biggest punishment under POCSO Act in the history of Tiruchy Mahila Court.
