Jumbo kills 83-year-old in Gudalur
An elderly woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Gudalur in Nilgiri district on Thursday. According to forest department officials, the victim identified as ‘Chinna’ Karuppayi (83) had visited her grandson’s house at Katharithodu near Puliampara in Gudalur.

Around 6.30 am, Karuppayi had come out of the house, when the jumbo lurking nearby trampled her to death. The elephant then retreated into the forest. On receiving information, forest department officials and Devala police rushed to the spot.
