Meanwhile, V Prakash, senior counsel appearing on behalf of Amrutha, submitted that the DNA test can be done on Deepa, who is Jayalalithaa’s niece. Submitting a report from a DNA testing unit in Hyderabad, he submitted that expert opinion clearly approves of such a test. However, Justice S Vaidyanathan on recording the submission, adjourned the case to June 4 for further hearing.

Earlier, SM Mohan Kumar, Manager-Legal, Apollo Hospitals, submitted in a counter affidavit that, “The late CM’s medical condition was challenging due to the multiple co-morbidities. Hence, all biological samples collected from her were used to run a battery of tests to rule out or confirm various medical conditions and in the process all her samples were used up.”

The counter affidavit also noted that Jayalalithaa who was admitted from September 22, 2016 to December 5, 2016 was accorded the best possible treatment. Thereafter, a detailed report of the medical treatment rendered to her was set out in a discharge summary on December 7, 2016. The same was handed over to the State Government on March 6, 2017, which circulated the discharge summary and is now available in public domain.
