“Those who fail to appear after issuing summon will not be called again,” Justice S Rajeswaran said to media after commencing the three-day final phase of enquiry into jallikattu protests in Coimbatore on Wednesday.
About 50 persons have submitted affidavits in Coimbatore and all inquiries have been completed. “29 individuals were summoned and inquired. The Coimbatore City Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi and inspectors will depose before the commission,” he said.
In Coimbatore, about 50 per cent of the witnesses have declared that police weren’t involved in the violence during the Jallikattu protests. In Madurai, 800 persons were inquired and even protesters from Alanganallur have deposed in favour of the police.
The commission will complete its enquiry in Chennai in another seven months, Rajeswaran said.
