Man sentenced to life till death for raping daughter

According to sources, the man, residing in a village under Madukkur police station, used to consume alcohol regularly. 

In the year 2016, he returned from work one day and found his wife was away on pilgrimage and his daughter, who was in Class 8, was alone in the house. Subsequently, the man tried to sexually assault his daughter who reportedly resisted it. 

However, he tied her limbs with a rope, gagged her and sexually assaulted her. He also warned her not to reveal the incident to anyone. He later repeatedly sexually assaulted her. In March 2017, the girl developed severe stomach pain and the doctors who tested her found that she was pregnant. After some weeks, the victim delivered a baby girl.

Following repeated questioning by her mother, the girl said her father had sexually assaulted her. Based on a complaint by the mother, the Pattukkottai All Women Police registered a case under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrested the culprit.

The Mahila Fast Track Court which heard the case on Tuesday sentenced the man to life in jail until his death.
