Man kills 2 kids, ends life in Sattur village

The incident happened in the wee hours of Sunday when the accused Antonyraj hacked both his children, Muthulakshmi (9) and Muneeswaran (4), and his wife, Muneeswari, while they were sleeping and fled from the spot.

In the incident, both Muthulakshmi and Muneeswaran died on the spot, while Muneeswari sustained serious injuries. 

After receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the children, and sent Muneeswari to hospital for treatment. The Sattur Police carried out an investigation on the spot and during preliminary investigation found that Antonyraj did not have any permanent income and so there were frequent fights between him and Muneeswari.

The couple had fought on Saturday night as well after Antonyraj had come home drunk. After Muneeswari had threatened to leave him, he killed his children and had tried to kill Muneeswari as well, though she had survived the attack, said police sources.

In the meantime, police received information that Antonyraj was hiding in the outskirts of the village and rushed to the spot. When they surrounded him, he committed suicide by slitting his throat.

Though police tried to save him, it was in vain. 

His body too was sent to the Sattur Government Hospital along with the body of his children for autopsy.
