DMK should clarify on CJI impeachment motion: TNCC
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Su Thirunavukkarasar said his party could not provide an explanation for DMK’s refusal to support the impeachment motion moved by opposition parties led by the Congress seeking the removal of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.

Speaking to reporters at the airport on Sunday, he said the impeachment motion was initiated to save the judiciary in the backdrop of allegations levelled by four SC judges on the CJI allocating sensitive cases to specific judges to favour the ruling BJP and that several parties had supported the move.
“I am not aware if the DMK was approached for their support on the impeachment or on why they have decided not to support the
impeachment. The DMK would have to answer that and not the TNCC,” Thirunavukkarasar said. He also claimed that the BJP leaders were staging several dramas against Tamil Nadu considering the upcoming Karnataka elections.
