After the Nirmala Devi case was transferred to the CB-CID, all the documents collected during the investigation by the Arupukottai Town Police were handed over to it. The crime branch formed seven teams to probe the case. On Thursday, the sleuths quizzed Vice Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University P P Chellathurai in his office and seized a diary, according to police sources. Another CB-CID team held investigations at the college where Nirmala Devi worked.Â
In the meantime, CB-CID filed two petitions. In the first filed in the Virudhunagar court, it prayed to shift the case from the Aruppukottai court. Another petition filed in the Sattur court sought to take Nirmala into its custody. The second petition would be heard on Friday.
