The IAS officer served as Secretary IV to the CM. Sources said that Ramalingam had told the Arumughasamy commission that he had met the ailing CM on September 22 and 27, in 2016. He had also told that Jayalalithaa wrote to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the then Governor Vidyasagar Rao thanking them for enquiring about her health. Letters bearing her signature had been handed to  Ramalingam through the doctors who were treating her for her illness.

The cross-examination of witnesses by VK Sasikala’s camp is also under way at Kalas Mahal. Sasikala’s aide Karthikeyan, Jayalalithaa’s nephew Deepak and Apollo hospitals doctor Sathyabama are to appear for cross-examination on April 30.

Sasikala’s counsel Raja Senthoor Pandian had addressed the concerns that arose about her time of death after the cross examination of doctor Sudha Seshaiyan who had performed the embalming on the body of the deceased chief minister. He said that the doctor’s statements debunked the theory that Jayalalithaa had been attacked in her home in Poes Garden and had been brought dead to Apollo Hospitals. He said that his cross-examination conclusively proved that the embalming was done after her death on the night of December 5.
