Stay on PG medical seats allotment
The Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) and the State Selection Committee not to allot seats to any student, either under all India or state quota
Chennai
The stay was based on a plea moved by in-service candidates seeking the HC to ask the DGHS to comply with Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations which awarded due weightage marks for service rendered in remote/difficult areas.
Passing interim orders on the plea which also sought to reserve 50 per cent seats for such candidates under all India quota, Justice S Vaidyanathan said: “The authorities can continue the counselling process but shall not allot seats till further order.”
Petitioners C Sudhan and six others submitted that they are in-service candidates working as assistant surgeons in Tamil Nadu Medical Services. They have appeared for NEET PG, 2018 and have secured more than 50% marks. They were declared eligible for admission to PG medical courses.
