It also indicated to contest two Assembly constituencies in the May 12 elections. The party also invited applications from aspirants who wanted to contest from Kolar Gold Field and Gandhinagar assembly seats and said they should be submitted to the headquarters on April 18 and 19. Party Coordinator O Panneerselvam and joint co-coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami announced the appointment of MP Yuvaraj as the AIADMK’s Karnataka state secretary. The two leaders in a statement also said that SD Kumar has been appointed as joint secretary of the unit.  They had in December last relieved V Pugazhenthi, a loyalist of then sidelined leader TTV Dhinakaran, as secretary of AIADMK’s Karnataka unit.

The party is expected to carry the fight for ‘Two Leaves’ symbol to the neighbouring state and oppose the allocation of the symbol for Dhinakaran’s supporters, who expressed willingness to contest in 20 seats there.
