Mugilan, who contributed to the movement to protect the Cauvery, was arrested on September 18 and at present is lodged in Palayamkottai Prison.

He claimed that neither the Centre, neighbouring Karnataka and Tamil Nadu is interested in solving the real issue as each of them has their own hidden agenda. Noting that Kudagu region was forced to go with Karnataka during the linguistic reorganisation of states, Mugilan demanded that the state should launch measures akin to the struggles to bring Kanniyakumari and Tiruttani within its borders.

“The people from the region have been pressing for a separate statehood and Tamil Nadu should stand with them,” he said.

The activist asserted that there were several facts which are being outweighed by the stakeholders in not forming the CMB and those facts should be brought to the people.

He also extolled the youth to rise to the occasion as they did in the case of jallikattu and the decades long Anti-Hindi agitation.
