Thunderstorm activity over Tamil Nadu is expected to continue for two more days, especially over the southern parts.
Delta districts on Saturday received light to moderate rain while districts like Virudhunagar in south Tamil Nadu recorded moderate to heavy thunderstorms along with parts of Madurai district, said weather experts at RMC.
“However, things will change after two days, as thunderstorm activity will slow down. Temperature is likely to increase subsequently. Models indicate that temperatures will increase from Wednesday by a degree during the day,” an official said.
K Srikanth, independent weather blogger, said, “isolated places along the Western Ghats are likely to see thunderstorm activity under the effect of converging winds during the afternoon and evening over the next couple of days. Coastal areas might see light rain or passing showers on Tuesday and Wednesday. This will also fade subsequently.” Chennai will not receive rain but there will be an overcast sky over most parts of the city, he added. Madurai received 45 mm rainfall, while Virudhunagar received 40 mm. Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Ramanathapuram and Thoothukudi received rainfall.
