    Tamilisai, Ponnar flay anti-Modi protests

Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greetings to people of Tamil Nadu that he would pray ‘for the fulfilment of Tamil people’s aspirations during this Tamil new year’, BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday said he was always doing good for Tamil Nadu while the opposition parties were trying to keep the state in protest mode to block development.

Speaking to the media after garlanding Babasaheb Ambedkar statue at Koyambedu, she said the Prime Minister had inaugurated an expo that would bring new industries, development and employment to the state despite the opposition showing black flags to him. But the agitations over Cauvery dispute would stop foreign investments and hamper the growth of Tamil Nadu, she said. “The people of Tamil Nadu are with Modi, only a few political parties are opposing him,” she said.

On the charges of opposition parties that the BJP was working to dilute the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Tamilisai said the BJP government had filed a petition in the Supreme Court and fighting against the dilution of the act. A few people were deliberately spreading false information on this, she charged.

Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, too, came down heavily on the black flag protests against Modi, charging that the DMK announced the agitation only to cover up its past blunders on Cauvery. A few people were working with an agenda of ensuring that the state did not get any good schemes, he added.

The minister charged the anti-IPL protesters with humiliating girls who came to see the matches and asked if the film personalities would accept all cinema halls stopping film screenings. The agitators were trying to turn the state into a graveyard.
