Writing in party mouthpiece Murasoli, DMK working president M K Stalin referred to the success of the “Cauvery Rights Retrieval Yatra” organised by his party-led opposition and said, “We won the battle. The War is going on”. This also suggested that the offensive against the BJP-led Centre and the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu would continue.
In the letter to his cadre, Stalin reiterated that they would not change course and the journey would continue till the riparian rights of the state was upheld and the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) was constituted.
Recalling the petition submitted to the Governor on Thursday, Stalin, also the Leader of Opposition, said the Supreme Court verdict on Cauvery must be implemented by the Centre, and they had petitioned the Governor because he was the representative of the Centre. Meanwhile, the opposition parties have also called for a protest on Monday demanding the inclusion of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution.
Immolation bid: Cadre battling for life
Even as DMK leader MK Stalin has urged his cadres not to resort to the extreme step of immolation seeking the creation of Cauvery Management Board, a DMK man S Ramesh (47) from Kancheepuram is battling for life after he set himself on fire on Saturday.
Ramesh was DMK’s deputy secretary of the 6th ward in Keerapakkam Panchayat near Kattangulathur. Ramesh who was initially admitted to a private hospital in Vandalur has been shifted to Kilpauk Government Hospital.
