Welcoming the unity of the people in the state on the Cauvery Management Board issue, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai said that however, the black flag shown against the Prime Minister was certainly unacceptable.

Speaking to reporters in Karur, Thambidurai said black flag showing protest is the individual interest of each party and the Prime Minister had come to represent the power of Indian army. “There is no connection between the Defence Expo and the Cauvery Management Board and they are different concepts. So, showing opposition to the arrival of the Prime Minister cannot be linked together.”
Stating that there will be a favourable verdict in the formation of the CMB shortly, Thambidurai said, both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have met the Prime Minister and appealed to establish the CMB immediately. “Otherwise, we will get the rights through legal means as the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa had shown the way,” he said.
Meanwhile, Thambidurai said he played a key role in disrupting Parliament proceedings by demanding to establish the CMB. “We will continue until, justice is secured,” he said.
Answering a query on resignation of MPs, the Deputy Speaker said, he had resigned his union minister post for the Cauvery in 1998. “Whether Kanimozhi and MK Alagiri did the same for the Cauvery?” he asked. We can show our protest only by being present in the house,” Thambidurai added.
