Detained students go on hunger strike in Tiruchy
After the students assembled at Anna Nagar link road, the venue that was used by them for jallikattu protests, Tiruchy city police took the entire stretch under their surveillance on Thursday to avoid any such flash protests.

Meanwhile, the students, who were secured on Wednesday, commenced a hunger strike at the detention locations.Â
According to the police, nearly 52 were arrested under suspicion, where 32 were released and 20 are remanded for their unruly behaviour on Wednesday night when miscreants had also damaged the windshield of a Karnataka government owned bus.Â
Sources said that the information of hunger strike by the detained students went viral from Thursday. Following it, the police kept strict vigil on the Anna Nagar link road to ensure no gatherings on the spot.
