The Union Minister had said that no request was made to meet the Prime Minister on Cauvery issue from the state government.
Speaking at Thevarkandanallur in Tiruvarur district on his fourth day of the Cauvery Rights Retrieval Yatra, Stalin recalled the resolution passed in the all-party meeting convened by the government to discuss the Cauvery issue in which one of the main resolutions was to meet the PM to press him to constitute the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) within the six weeks time.
He charged the state government of inaction on the resolution. He wondered why the Chief Minister or his Deputy has not issued a rebuttal to Radhakrishnan’s statement. “They could not do so, both must resign henceforth to uphold the dignity of the posts they occupy,” Stalin said.
He further alleged that the Chief Minister has been clinging on to chair as the Prime Minister has all the details of the irregularities committed by the ruling dispensation.
Detailing about the march, he said it would culminate in Cuddalore on April 12. From Cuddalore a car procession would be taken on April 13 and the leaders would meet the Governor. “The Governor’s office has given an appointment at 12 30 pm on April 13. We will apprise him of the situation in the state and the team would urge him to take up the CMB issue with the Centre,” he added.
R Mutharasan, CPI state secretary, A Lazar, former CPM MLA were present.
Meanwhile, in Thanjavur VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan led the second phase of the Cauvery Retrieval Yatra and urged the state to act now to escape from the disrepute it would face on the issue. He was accompanied by CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan.
