According to sources, the tenements at Kumaraguruppallam with 240 houses were constructed more than 15 years back and was in a dilapidated condition. Following demand from the residents, the Congress government decided to demolish it and construct afresh. A file was prepared in 2016 and the approval of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and concerned minister were obtained. Later, the file was sent to Bedi, who reportedly returned it citing some queries. When Lakshminarayanan came to know this, he along with over 100 people from the area, including women, marched to the Raj Nivas and observed a dharna in front of it. Police who held talks with Lakshminarayanan invited him to have a discussion with Bedi. However, he refused it.Â
The MLA told news persons that it was a long pending demand of the people of Kumaraguruppallam and the Puducherry government decided to fulfill it. However, Bedi had returned the file mentioning some questions to which no one could give an answer, he said.Â
Now the Lt Governor should shoulder responsibility in case of any incidents happens at Kumaraguruppallam, the legislator added.
