Speaking to reporters, she denied irregularities in the appointment of Surappa. She also flayed actor Rajinikanth for his comments against the appointment and said if Tamils had rejected Rajini as a Kannadiga, he could not have become a superstar. Tamils would not discriminate between locals and outsiders and they would always welcome people of other states. The culture of Tamils should not be demeaned, she said.

She also attacked actor Sathyaraj and pointed out that he had tendered open apology to Kannadigas to ensure screening of Bahubali in Karnataka. On Sathyaraj’s comments that Tamils would face even the army, she asked why they were afraid of Income Tax raids.

Disputing the BJP leader’s claims that there were no irregularities in the appointment of Surappa, DK president K Veeramani said the Governor’s post is ex-officio in nature and he could not conduct interviews or select the candidate on his own.  “If Jayalalithaa was alive, can the Governor conduct interviews,” he asked.
