Weathermen at RMC said easterlies would keep the temperature under check over most of the state too. Parts of TN, including interior areas like Karur, Namakkal, Erode and Salem would see a mild dip in temperature. While south and west-interior regions saw a spurt in temperature recently, the situation had changed under the influence of easterlies, they said.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower could occur at one or two places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next two days.

Speaking to DT Next, S Balachandran, director of Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC, said, “the intensity of easterlies will cause a dip in temperature for two more days. Further, chances of light to moderate rain remain high in the southern parts. This is due to change in wind pattern and easterlies.”

The centre was monitoring wind pattern and weather activities, he added.

K Srikanth, a city-based weather blogger said, “under the influence of the cyclonic circulation and easterlies off Sri Lanka and associated easterly trough, parts of south Tamil Nadu and coastal areas could see light early morning rain in a few places over the next day or two. Moreover, temperature will dip by a degree or half.”

In Chennai, temperature will stay between 35 and 36 degrees Celsius for two more days, he added. Chennai airport on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius while Nungambakkam recorded 34.7 degrees Celsius.
