Holding IPL at the height of Cauvery stir will be an embarrassment, CSK team should wear black bands: Rajini
Observing that holding IPL matches in Chennai would not be good at a time when the entire Tamil Nadu was on an agitational path on the emotive Cauvery issue, actor Rajinikanth on Sunday appealed to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team members to wear black bands during matches as a show of solidarity.

Talking to reporters in front of his Poes Garden residence before heading for the silent fast organised by the Nadigar Sangam demanding setting up of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) and the Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC) he said it would be an embarrassment if IPL was held at "As a mark of pledging support to the ongoing stir on Cauvery row, the CSK team members could wear black arm bands during the matches", he added.
Several political parties have opposed holding of IPL matches in the city, the first match of which would be held on April 10, citing the ongoing agitation across the state on the Ccauvery issue.
Some of the parties have also said they would lay a siege to the Chepauk cricket stadium to stop the match, while some other outfits have written to the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association to stop the match or shift their matches to another venue.
