e-classrooms to bridge Jipmer with other medical institutes

According to an official statement, many students who are not able to get admission in the institute remain cut off from high integrated medical education being given to students of Jipmer. With the setting up of such e-Classrooms, the medical knowledge will easily be made available to all medical students across the country. 

Being a Regional Resource Centre (RRC) for South India for Telemedicine, Jipmer is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including National Knowledge Network (NKN) high bandwidth internet connectivity. The internet facility is supplied by National Informatics Centre (NIC) Puducherry, the statement said. 

The e-Classrooms are being developed as part of the activity of National Medical College Network (NMCN) Project, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India, available in Jipmer since 2015. 

The National Medical College Network (NMCN) project has been envisaged to interlink all medical colleges in the country with high speed optic fiber backbone from National Knowledge Network (NKN). 

The primary objective of the project is to create a standard and cohesive environment for medical education by the deployment of advanced information and communication technology systems for tele-education, knowledge sharing, Continuous Medical Education (CME), and capacity building for students, doctors, medical experts, and public. 

Under this project, a high definition videoconferencing systems based setup with audio and visual, control system and other accessories are provided.
