NTK cadre’s bid to besiege toll plaza foiled
Nearly, 30 Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) cadres, who tried to besiege the toll plaza at Pallikonda, 20 km from Vellore were arrested by the police on Friday.
Vellore
Their agitation was in continuation of the Thursday’s Opposition-led bandh condemning the Centre for not setting up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) despite orders to this effect by the Supreme Court.
When the NTK workers shouting slogans against the Centre and state governments for lack of action on this issue, tried to enter the vehicle lanes and prevent toll collection, the nearly 100 cops stationed there swung into action and rounded them up.
Police were alert this time as they did not want a repeat of the incidents at the Ulundurpet toll plaza in Villupuram district when the NTK cadre damaged plaza property in support of their agitation, a few days ago.
