The Makkal Needhi Maiam president was speaking to reporters on Thursday at the airport on his return to Chennai, after spending two days in Tiruchy where he held a public meeting to announce key party policies.

On the growing calls for a non-cooperative movement in response to the Center’s apathy, he said that the call could have come in response to the speech that he had made in Tiruchy on Wednesday or that other like-minded people of the state could have conceived of the idea. He added that he hopes the situation will be resolved without having to resort to such moves.

Kamal said that he will not be disclosing his party’s plans for protests at the moment. Responding to AIADMK Minister D Jayakumar’s jibe that by denouncing the fast held by the AIADMK he has insulted the protest, Kamal said that even the AIADMK are guilty of the same due to the manner in which they conducted the fast.
