Woman cop suspended for drinking in uniform

The police department immediately swung into action and by Monday evening, the Grade I woman constable attached to the Saminathapuram station was placed under suspension after she was found drinking while in uniform, sources said. The video of more than a minute’s duration begins with the constable holding a glass and conversing with her acquaintance who is not visible in the clip, about their “drinking session” and ends with her gulping the drink from a disposable cup. 

In the video, the constable is seen fumbling and she was not able to open her eyes at one point due to the alleged “influence of alcohol”. 

The constable, identified as Zainab Nisha, is working in the Saminathapuram station near Palani in Dindigul district. She was placed under suspension after the authenticity of the video was established by the police. 

Police sources said Zainab Nisha had asked the other person in the vehicle to shoot the video of her drinking using her phone. She later shared the same video with a group of women police personnel in the district. 

From that group it was shared in other groups multiple times and went viral on Monday.
