Before she left her home in Thanjavur, DMK senior leader KN Nehru met her and held discussions for about 30 minutes. Sasikala’s brother Dhivakaran said the DMK leader had consoled her for the loss of her husband M Natarajan and nothing political was discussed in the meeting. He also said most of the AIADMK MPs and MLAs too contacted her over phone to express their condolences. They did not attend Natarajan’s funeral since they faced the risk of losing their posts.

Two days ago, MDMK leader Vaiko met Sasikala in the presence of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhgam deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran. It is said Vaiko enquired about Sasikala’s health since she was unwell last week due to high fever.

She was given 15-day parole on March 20 to attend the last rites of her husband Natarajan. A portrait of Natarajan was unveiled on March 30. The function was attended by Natarajan’s friends, besides political leaders like World Tamils Forum Leader P Nedumaran, VCK leader TholThirumavalavan and NaamThamizhar leader P Seeman, but Sasikala was absent in the function.
