Accusing police and election officials of working hand in glove with AIADMK functionaries and indulging in irregularities and excesses in the conduct of the election, Stalin urged the election commissioner and DGP to take action against their errant officers on poll duty.Â
Citing largescale irregularities, he said that in one instance in Cuddalore, the election officer did not even turn up, but the list of victors was released, forcing DMK members to a lodge a complaint about the missing election officer.
The DMK also submitted a representation to Governor Banwarilal Purohit seeking his intervention in the election issue. Party organising secretary RS Bharati listed the irregularities and urged the Governor to direct the state government to conduct free and fair elections.
