Report on Kurangani fire in 2 months: Enquiry officer Atulya Misra

Senior IAS official Atulya Misra, appointed by the Tamil Nadu government to enquire into the fire at Kurangani hills, which has so far claimed 20 lives, today said he would submit his report within two months.

Talking to newsmen here, Mishra said he has spoken to 32 members of the public and 41 government officials, as part of the probe.

A total of 39 persons - 12 from Erode and Tirupur and 27 from Chennai had embarked on a trip on March 10. Three among the Chennai group went to Kerala and the rest proceeded for trekking.

Of the 36 people caught in the forest fire, 20 died, 10 were rescued without any injuries and the rest are undergoing treatment.
