Sacred thread of bank official cut in Thanjavur
A group of 10 people reportedly cut off the sacred thread of a 56-year-old bank official at Orathanadu, Thanjavur, on Tuesday night.

The police said, Prabakaran, from Tiruchy, is manager of the SBI branch at Orathanadu in Thanjavur. He was waiting for a bus around 7.30 pm when suddenly, 10 unidentified people confronted Prabakaran and allegedly assaulted him after which he lost balance and fell on the ground. They also cut off his sacred thread and threatened him with dire consequences if he wore it again and fled.Â
A shocked Prabakaran approached the Orathanadu police and lodged a complaint. A hunt has been launched for the group.Â
